Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the U.S. She has worked as media critic since. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency a website that provides commentary and videos on portrayals of women in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Sarkeesian, who has the degree of Master's in Social and Political Thought at York University, is a sought after public speaking. She has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Inquiring about gender identity and feminism from an early age she launched her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while she was still at university. Someone who hoped to launch a web-series that would examine the gender-based representation in video games was targeted by an internet-based campaign. The attack did not stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered the determination of an activist for women in media. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminists are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her efforts as a critique of media and founded Feminist Frequency.
