Taylor Swift
Taylor Alison Swift, born December 13, 1989, is an American musician and singer. Her discography includes many kinds of music. The songs she writes, which are often influenced by her own personal experiences, has earned her praise from critics and extensive media coverage. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and moved to Nashville when she was 14 years old. She signed a songwriting and recording agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The self-titled debut album she released in 2006 made Swift the first female country artist to release an album which was U.S.-certified platinum. Swift's subsequent albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010), focused on country pop. The latter's "Love Story," as well as "You Are My Friend," were the first songs from the country genre that made it to the top of both the U.S. Pop and All-Genre Airplay charts. Red (2012) included the first Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going Back Together". She discarded her country image and dropped 1989 (2014) which was a synth-pop album that included the chart-topping tracks "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". The skepticism of the media inspired her album Reputation (2017) and its number-one single "Look at What You Did to Me Do".
Swift quit Big Machine and signed with Republic Records in 2018. In 2018, Swift released Lover (2019), her seventh studio album. She was then followed by Miss Americana (2020), which is a documentary about her autobiography. She ventured into indie folk and alternative rock with her albums for 2020, Folklore and Evermore which featured two singles "Cardigan" as well as "Willow" topped the Hot 100. Swift began recording her first six albums again following a dispute with their masters. Two of the albums were reissued in 2021--Fearless(Taylor’s version) and Red (Taylor’s version). "All Too Well (10 minute version)" was the longest song to reach the top of the Hot 100. Her 2022 album Midnights and the single "Anti-Hero" broke all-time streaming records. Swift has also directed music videos and movies, including All Too Well: the Short Film (2021), and also played as a supporting role in a variety of other. Swift is one of the top-selling artists ever. She has sold over 200 million copies across the world. Swift is the top streamed female on Spotify. She's the only artist to have five albums that have sold more than one million copies in the US. Among her accolades are 12 Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year wins; an Emmy Award; 40 American Music Awards; 29 Billboard Music Awards; and 92 Guinness World Records. Swift is listed in Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest songwriters of All Time, and Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists and also Forbes Celebrity 100 and Time 100. Swift was named Artist of the Decade or Woman of the Decade. Swift is a defender of artist's rights and women's empowerment. Swift's music has been credited with influencing the next generation of musicians and singers.
